When I open firefox, instead of going to my homepage of my.yahoo.com, it is directed to findwide.com...no matter what I do to reset the home page, it always opens in findwide.com.....even contacting them and using all the fixes they have suggested, there is no relief....

Hi!

I'm sorry to read that. This sounds like the usual case of a takeover by a toolbar or a malicious add-on.

I will recommend to use Firefox Reset to clean all this potential extensions: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Let me know if that works for you. Ibai

You will need to uninstall from Windows Control Panel. The installation of this item changed your home page and search and is included in the file user.js in your Firefox profile folder

See - http://support.findwide.com/uninstall.php

User.js - http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file
Reset home page - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page
Search reset - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/

You might try posting in one of the forums specializing in malware listed at the bottom of the following article to get assistance from one of the malware experts there. 1). Post on only one forum, 2). follow their rules for posting, 3). do only as they instruct, and 4). keep in close contact with them to avoid having your question closed/locked.

To help other Firefox users with the same problem, please post a solution in this thread when you are successful in removing the pest. Thanks and good luck.
