The freestanding window listing the recent DLs was perfect! Now they've moved it into the Library window, which I'd like to leave set to History, thank you very much! And why does any indication of a download ending have to be up in a different part of the screen to which I usually don't pay attention? Up to v19 the taskbar Firefox button would blink and a box "All downloads have completed" would pop up! That doesn't happen now!

When a download is in progress then you see a download progress bar on the Navigation Toolbar instead of the Download Manager button and that button is highlighted once the download has finished to make you aware the their are new downloads.

You can view the new Download Manager in a tab by opening the about:downloads page and consider to open this page in a separate window.

You can set the Boolean pref browser.download.useToolkitUI to true on the about:config page to restore the classic Download Manager window and make all download settings appear in "Tools > Options > General".

You can check the value of the browser.download.manager.retention pref on the about:config page (default = 2, manual).

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Getting a bit like Ms Windows where every new version is completely different to the last so you spend 6 months learning the new way only for them to update again and the whole sorry saga starts all over again. I don't mind Firefox updating itself but I do get a bit peeved when things completely change or disappear altogether, like where did my Download Statusbar disappear to? Completely disappeared, got it back but now when trying to set a Download directory I get a double entry i.e. C:\Download\Download and try as I may I can't change it to simply C:\Download or whatever name I want to call it. Baffled I am, I am.

AAARGHHH!!!

PLEASE developers, STOP CHANGING THE DAMN GUI !!!! Do you take your car for a service and the mechanic thought you would much prefer the speedometer in the glovebox, because, you know it's much cleaner and people don't use it much anyway? NO.

It's exactly the same thing.

Sheesh and you wonder why people are reluctant to upgrade. Please give me a simple way to keep firefox looking the same as a classic version of my choice.
