I have my start screen set to display my homepage but it still shows that screen with the past windows. How do I get rid of that?

Suddenly one day my start screen on Firefox started to display that screen of screen shots of the past nine websites I visited. I do not want that. I have gone to Tools & Options and verified that it is supposed to open my chosen homepage at start up, but it still doesn't do it. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Sounds like the "new tab" page that appears when you open a new tab using Ctrl+t.

Does the new tab page appear if you create a new window by pressing Ctrl+n, or only when you start Firefox from a shortcut? You should get the same "home page" (or home pages) either way.

If you only have this problem with the shortcut, right-click it and choose properties, and check whether about:newtab appears in the Target line.

If it happens in a new window, too, could you check on whether you have any extensions related to tabs or the "new tab" page? One of them may be overriding your home page and showing the "new tab" page instead.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

You could try any relevant-looking extensions' Options button, or just disable it.

Any luck?
