Which add on do I need to disable in order to open my emails?

One fine day, I was unable to open any emails in hotmail. After reading some firefox support chatter, I disabled all add ons and started firefox in safe mode. After that I was able to open emails without a problem. The question I have is: How do I find out which add on is responsible for not allowing me to open my emails in hotmail? I hope there is a simpler and faster solution than 'trail and error'?

Thanks,

Martin

Trial and error looks like the only way to fix this problem. I recommend trying to disable the Flashblock or Quick Java extensions first.

If trial and error doesn't work, reply to this post and we may need to try some combinations.

What add-ons do you have? Can you please take a screenshot of the add-ons page or post a list below.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
  • Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

FYI: after disabling the 'wx download' add on, it started working again!
