When I run Secunia, the program always flags Mozilla Firefox 17.x regardless what version Firefox is installed. Secunia says the program is located at C:\windows\erdnt\cache86\firefox.exe (and the program is there). The computer has 64 bit version of Windows 7. How do I get rid of this version of Firefox. Currently, I uninstalled version 23 using Windows 7 control panel and remove personal information as well but the Windows uninstall does not affect the version identified as version 17. This particular directory is a favorite of the viruses. However, this file doesn't seem to be a virus as the file is sign by Mozilla.

Windows could not figure how to process the troubleshooting file. There is no help at the top of the screen for the manual troubleshooting. The troubleshooting suggested may not work because I uninstalled Firefox version 23.

If this is backup folder used by the ERUNT program then I should be able to find the program itself. According to http://technologizer.com/2009/05/26/why-i-dumped-windows-system-restore-for-erunt/, ERUNT should be located at c:\programs\erdnt\(some date). There is a not a directory Erdnt under programs

In the FAQ link sent, it states only works if Windows 7 User Account Control in Windows' Control Panel is turned off. The User Account Control is on and set to default value.

You may have had this ERUNT program in the past if it no longer shows in Control Panel > Programs.

You can check the date of the folder and the files in it to see when it had been created.

Since you probably won't ever want to reinstall Firefox 17, even if it is a legitimate old backup, I suggest removing it from that location. Firefox 23 should continue to function normally.

Although the suggestions were helpful, the solution was to remove the whole folder http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/245753-erdnt-file-in-cwindows/

Then, Secunia shows everything is up to date.

Now, I can install Firefox 23.
