Disable tab groups
Is it possible to disable tab groups? Part of the reason I use tabs is to act as reminders to go back to look something over later, which tab groups suppresses. More importantly, it makes permanently closing tabs much too easy - I've already lost a hat full of tabs once, and although I'll be more careful next time, it's still too easy. It also seems to have disabled the 'Warn me when closing multiple tabs' feature for the last window (the warning pops up when multiple windows are closed, until the last one, when it just closes).

Hello,
In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and facilitate future improvements to Firefox, the option to hide the tab bar was removed.
Fortunately, this can easily be resolved if you desire the keep tabs hidden. You can install "Hide tab bar with one tab", an extension hosted on Mozilla's add-ons site, which will restore the ability to hide the tab bar.
Thank you and I hope this helps!
Hi Meghraj,
Yes, I came across this add-on else where - I have absolutely no issue with tabs, they are invaluable. My problem is just with the tab groups feature.
Hi Mike, do you have any guesses about how tabs are being moved into different groups? By default, they all start off in one group and I can't think of a quick way to move them to different groups, other than to do it manually. (I looked for one in this article: Use Tab Groups to organize a lot of tabs...)
Could you check the Options dialog for each of your extensions and see whether those have any features related to tab groups? Typically you can access those here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Hi Jefferson ,
I don't really understand what you're asking. I'm not using groups, all the tabs are in one group - that's not the issue. Before I tried using groups, there was no option to close the 'master group' and closing the last window promoted a 'You are about to close 'x' tabs' warning. Both of these is no longer the case since I tried forming a new group. I might have been since updating firefox, but I don't think so.
Hi Mike, I don't use this feature myself, but if there is an empty tab group in the window, you may need to delete that to restore normal behavior in that window. You can display the "groups" screen using Ctrl+Shift+e; pressing Esc will then return you to normal view. If that doesn't help, hopefully someone more familiar with this feature will recognize why yours is behaving oddly.
