I enter the proxy into firefox v.24. It get a popup that asks for username and password. Everything works fine after that. But Firefox stops asking me for my authentication information which is nice for browsing. But I looked into my saved passwords and the authentication information is not there. Where is this information being saved? Furthermore I tried opening IE and used the proxy settings there and it didn't even ask me to authenticate. It allowed me to browse without entering a username and password. I'm concerned that this is a security risk of some sorts. Where is that information being stored? Is it being saved on my Windows Vista OS? Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

I can't give you a proper answer for Windows Vista, but I think that your problem might have more to do with the OS configuration rather than with Firefox or IE.

In the guidelines to solve Firefox related problems, it is said:

"Does the problem happen in IE as well? If so, it's a problem on the system, not Firefox."

Also Firefox has a configuration file for each user, which is called prefs.js.

I hope it helps. Let's see if some more experienced user can enlighten the subject.
