Can't get to bookmarks because cant get to start screen
The howto have inadequate written instructions and too large useless photographs. The howtos are too short and force users to search for the next step because the howtos fail to give adequate instructions.
"Quickly find any bookmark on your device. Tap the address bar."
"select Bookmarks from the Top Sites screen "
Whereas taping the address bar does not bring up bookmarks. There is no instructions on how to bring p the top sites screen.
Incomplete instructions for finding start screen: "Tap on the title bar, tap on the Bookmarks tab, and finally tap on the Firefox Start bookmark to access the Firefox start screen."
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pin-sites-firefox-android-start-screenshot
Whereas, taping on the title bar does not bring up the bookmarks tab nor the start screen.
Taping on the title bar brings up: Share, copy address, edit site settings and add to home screen. Edit site settings brings up nothing.
I am going around in vicious circles simply trying to find my bookmarks! I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox several times but it didn't make a difference.

We need to distinguish between a "tap" and a "long press". You are getting the menu for a long press (similar to a right-click on a desktop system). If you just touch and release quickly, can you get the expected display (sub-tabs for Top Sites, Bookmarks, History)?
Just to correct my last reply: the Top Sites, Bookmarks, and History may not be styled as tabs depending on your version. On Android 4.4, I get an underline bar that shows the current category and switch between them by swiping left and right.
jscher2000, thank you for teaching me the difference between a tap and a long press. I am surprised no one before me had this problem.
This is the only app I have come across that uses both a tap and a long press command to bring up different menus. Not only is this confusing to learn but prone towards accidents of intending one stroke but doing the other. I favor just having a scrolling menu with every option in one place.
Since 2007, I have used Firefox for linux and am very pleased with it. I am extremely disappointed with Firefox for Android. Users should not have to research and post questions regarding simple use such as finding bookmarks.
There are other things to research such as how to copy and paste, how to find settings that normally would be in a toolbar, finding an add on toolbar, adding quit, finding startpage or ixquick search bar, etc.
The stock android browser is easier to use and so far I haven't needed to conduct research on how to use it.
To answer your questions (the ones I know)
how to copy and paste,
You can long press the text and use the pointers at the left and right side of the text to drag however far you want the text you want to copy to go. Just tap the icon that has a page in behind and a page in front to copy. And to paste, simply long press where you want to put it and click the clipboard icon.
how to find settings that normally would be in a toolbar
What settings in particular are you looking for?
adding quit,
You can install the folllowing add-on to add that back
finding startpage or ixquick search bar
The startpage is the first screen you see where you have your pinned sites. Firefox for Android doesn't use nor accept a user-defined home page.
Thanks Moses for instructing. However, long pressing text, does not bring up pointers at the left and right side of the text. Instead long pressing text brings up a pop up menu: tablet: open link in new tab, open link in private tab, copy link, share link, bookmark link. I am not using a tablet so I don't know why the pop up menu says tablet. I am using a Motorola DroidX.
Even if your instructions would have worked, does it apply to plain text files? For example, I compose an email on a laptop with a physical keyboard. I copy the text file to the external micro sD card in my Droidx. 920 Editor opens the text file. How do I copy it into the body of an email?
Likewise, how do I copy the body of an email into a plain text file?
Or how do i copy part of a web page into a plain text file?
I have installed the addon Save As Text which copies the entire web page into a plain text file. Sometimes, I just need to copy just a paragraph or a URL. How to do this?
Four out of five long presses on a paragraph results in nothing. One out of five results in the pop up menu I described above.

This works fine for me. I'm using a T-Mobile Note 2 with Firefox 28. See screenshot below. You're probably long pressing a link. (2nd screenshot)

Long pressing text should pop up pointers on the side of the text. I don't know why it wouldn't show. In all my devices (Droid X included) I've been able to do that.
