I have been using Thunderbird with my twc email account for years. Suddenly it stopped working. It will not connect to the server. I tried many things and now I wonder if I messed up some of the settings. Can you please help me and tell me with the incoming and outgoing server settings should be? Or any other way I can get this working again?
Thank you!

I'm running Thunderbird on Mac OS 15.3. I have two POP accounts in Thunderbird; the configuration has been stable for years. This evening, I went to add a new account, and Thunderbird seemed to have decided to update itself, including flipping me over to Chrome where it opened a page about Supernova.
Thunderbird relaunched and came up with an empty "Chat" window. My usual mail window is gone -- and I can't get it back. I can't get an "About Thunderbird" window to open.
I actually can't figure out what happened. My mail appears to be gone. My accounts seem to be gone. I can't open Settings, I can't open Account Settings.
Wait, the mail accounts seem to still exist -- I can tell Thunderbird to check mail, and the POP server shows the checks happening -- but if I send mail to myself, nothing opens. Also, all of the Layout menu options are greyed out.
Help? :-)
Thanks, Vince

I keep thunderbird pinned to my Windows taskbar and that is usually where I look for it. Every so often and much mor6e frequently than I like it vanishes from there and I believe that that is when it an update to it arrives. To maintain the state I like I then need to delete the now-dead pinning for the taskbar, find thunderbird afresh and leunch it and re-pin. This is not a terribly new behaviour but the grief threshold in my life has just been passed leading me to ask if this is a thunderbird issue or a windows one and if there is some scheme I can use to keep the application pinned pretty well come what may. This is obviously not life critical but it has been winding me up! Many thanks. Arthur

I use an extension called FiltaQuilla that allowed me to create a filter like so: Folder name is Joe Blow Age in days is >30 Move message to Joe Blow in Local Folders
This allowed me to move older messages to an equivalent folder in Local Folders to keep from using up IMAP space. At some point, this silently stopped working. Now, nothing happens when I run my filters on the IMAP folders. The >30 day old emails remain in that folder.
I'm guessing it's an issue with FiltaQuilla, and probably needs to be asked of them. But that brings up a new question: has this ability been integrated into Thunderbird recently? Is there another way I can do this without an extension?

Hello, when I'm on a web site and choose to contact them, I click on their email. Instead of opening Thunderbird opening I get the annoying pop up that wants me to sign in and open the new Outlook. I do not use Outlook. I do not want to use Outlook. What do I need to do to simply have my Thunderbird open and completely ignore the Outlook? Thank you,

How can I tell Thunderbird to return false positive "junk" e-mails to their original folders?
My e-mail-server was moved to another provider. I set up a new IMAP account in Thunderbird 128.7.0esr. It downloaded my emails and falsely marked 7,298 (seven thousand!) emails as "junk" and moved them to the relevant folder. 1 (one) email was correctly marked as junk.
I have marked all 7,298 messages as "not junk". However, they just sit there. They are not being returned to their original folders.
According to https://blog.thunderbird.net/2024/09/thunderbird-and-spam/ the should automatically return to their proper folders. But that is not happening.
That's a problem, as they are from many different folders. Inbox, Sent, Archives, group boxes, drafts, you name it.
What to do?
Put my messages in Thunderbird back in the folders or on the desktop as I had them.

Windows 10 (64bit), Thunderbird 128.7.0esr (32-Bit)
Without warning this has suddenly started happening. Maybe after the latest update? I can get the blessed Trash folder back in TB by 1. closing TB 2. (The Trash file is missing in Local Folders, the Trash.msf file seems okay)
manually creating a new "Trash" file in my profile (a text file without suffix).
3. restarting TB
The Trash does not disappear if it contains something when TB is closed.
I tried excluding the Trash in Windows Defender, but that has no effect.

For about 6 months now, my printers have been disappearing and reappearing at random...or so I thought. However, today, I left my Printer window opened while the printers were "Connected". I then proceeded to open the programs I regularly use: First Word. Nothing. Then Acrobat. Nothing. Then Chrome, still nothing. Then Thunderbird...Bam! Printers Disconnected. I said, let me try this again, and again, and again. Each time...same result. When launching Thunderbird...within 5 secs, the printers disconnect. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen. Anyone out there looking for a fun challenge? I've never seen this happen before and would love a resolution. Oh, and before it's suggested: I already checked the PrintSpooler service...connected or disconnected, it's status reads: "Running" in Task Manager.

I tried to move the Profile(s) from my old Win 10 PC to a new Win 11 PC... Did not go well. I have all primary folders showing, but over half do not display messages even though properties show there is varied amounts of data in the folders. Nearly ALL Sub Folders do Not display even though the .sbd folders show up in the profiles. I have search your files for methods to recover messages, display folders, transfer files, raise the dead and after life experiences. Nothing seems to work. I have gone into the 'file' portion of the folders list, not .MSF File, with NotePad and can see email data. I am at the point of trying to find a way to move this data over into TB messages, but not sure how to go about that. I am seeing the same thing on both computers Win10 and Win11 as described above - the folders that show data seem to be the first 10 or so and then nothing after that. I can only think I cut the first transfer attempt short before every thing was moved.. No idea really what is happening. If I have a new message I want to save to one of the Main Folders, that do not show messages, I can see the data count increase, but the newly moved message does not show up in the Folder I moved it to. If I make a new Sub Folder under the Main Folder, and move the new message to it... it shows up and the sub Folder shows up like it should. I need some guidance on how to recover the messages because some of them are important.. I would like to get them right on the Win10 machine, then I could go and do the same correction to the Win11 PC... Thanks in Advance for your help. HughS. netycynergy@gmail.com

I've read the original query from romanroad (4/23/24) and the replies, which related to Gmail. I have the same problem but with a slightly different set-up, which those replies don't cover. My query relates to Thunderbird 128.5.1esr (64-bit) using IMAP to link with Outlook emails. A reply from sfhowes - 4/24/24, 10:26 AM said [with my numbering] [1] "Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe..., uncheck the Sent folder and check the Sent Mail folder." [2] "Also, make the change in Copies & Folders in Account Settings
re [1] When I Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe..., I can uncheck the Sent folder BUT there is no Sent Mail folder. (Folders are Archive, Deleted (with subfolder POP), Drafts, INBOX, Junk, Notes, Outbox and Sent [as well as 3 personal folders].) Both Outbox and Sent were checked. If I uncheck the Sent box, leaving Outbox checked, the Sent folder empties completely; if I then check it again, it refills all the sent messages from years back (presumably from Outlook because of IMAP.) re [2] In Account Settings I had unchecked the "Place a copy in:" option - but am still getting duplicates. I do want a copy of what I have sent - just not two of everything.

For a few months now I get a Send Message Error whenever I try to send an email from one of my addresses (see first screenshot below). I've checked my SMTP server settings and they all seem to be correct. (2nd and 3rd screenshots). I'm using the latest version of Thunderbird on Mac OS 15.3 Sequoia. I have no firewalls. What could be the problem and how can I fix it?
When starting a new message Thunderbird always includes in the message a person file loaded as a picture.
How do I stop this?
