At present the "Create Filter From ..." feature works only with addresses in the To: and Cc: areas.

Is it possible to use it with an email address in the message body?

The address is recognised by TB as a valid address: it's blue, underlined and when clicked on creates a new email to that address.

Being able to "Create Filter From ..." a message body address will make creating filters easier.

Thank you, Tony

There are ways to create filters other than the "create filter from..." method.

Right-click the email address in the message body. Use "copy email address" to copy it to the clipboard,

Create a new filter. You could use your usual "create filter from..." method, or else to go Tools|Message Filters and do it all "by hand". You can paste in the copied address from your clipboard.

Thanks but that longer process is just what I'd like to avoid if possible. It just seems to be an oversight that the "Create Filter From ..." feature recognises an address in the To: & Cc: but not the body.

Perhaps you could suggest an enhancement in bugzilla. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

Someone might be able to create something that works around the apple patent on recognizing items in text blocks such as email addresses and URL's.
