I was having problem with my Yahoo.com email and the technical help recommended I us Google Chrome, which now inudates me with popups and is generally not acceptable. About 3 months ago I signed up with PC Matic for my virus protection and I want to go back to Mozilla Firefox, but am not certain the two are compatible.

I haven't heard of this software before.

Generally speaking, all real-time/full-time security software will protect you from bad downloads, because anything saved to disk gets scanned in the background. But some security software also includes browser add-ons and you should check with the publisher on whether those work in Firefox (unless someone reading your question already knows the answer).

The fact that you are inundated with popups in Google Chrome suggests that you may have malware that PC Matic is missing. Try some of the supplemental cleanup tools in our support article so that you can root out anything that might be on your system before installing Firefox.

Are you talking about PC Matic, from P. C. Pitstop, LLC? The program / service that is advertised on TV, in the wee hours of the morning?

Doesn't sound like an AntiVirus application, to me. Plus, I wonder why it can't find and clean out whatever is causing those Popups on the Chrome browser?

Have you read some "reviews" of that product? http://www.cpapracticeadvisor.com/article/10884468/reviewing-pc-matic http://michaeljkarg.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-pc-matic-experience.html

As far as whether it is compatible with Firefox, I sure wouldn't want to use that product on Firefox to clean anything! Too many "legitimate" Anti Virus applications can't seem to clean Firefox files without causing problems for the user.

My advice is to user a free (for personal use) AntiVirus of Security application like Aivra Free or the free version of Avast, and get rid of that "poser".
