How do I stop video's from starting automatically?
I go to some sites and videos load and play without having to click anything . Is there any option or setting to load the page without having to have the video start?

Hello, could you provide examples? cheers
Yahoo news sites seem the most common culprit, for example: [[Bodies leave Ukraine crash site for return to Netherlands|http://news.yahoo.com/fighting-erupts-ukraine-crash-investigators-arrive-080500272--finance.html]] Video loads up once the page is loaded, it's done this on a few other pages also. Please inform me as to what further info I can provide to help you help me. Thanks
Now with the latest update to version 31, not only does the video start on it's own, when I stop the video FF crashes. Were making matters worse here.
Hi, if go on your link, Firefox works fine to me (it doesn't autoplay the video). What plugin is your Firefox using to display videos? I have VLC web plugin. You can check in Options > Applications.
I can't find any "Options> Applications" in FF or Android. I don't have an optional plug-in that I'm aware of other then the one embedded (I assume) in the browser that used to be the default. I'm using Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). I would love to install VLC but Google in all their wisdom does not allow uninstalling apps, to do so I would have to root the phone. There are no video plug-ins listed in FF add on's either. It's good that this problem is only on me, but it's going to frustrate me enough to either go back to the "metroweb" browser that was default, or root the phone which is still under warranty. I can't see installing VLC and not be able to uninstall all the other media players VLC can replace as it's rather large.
Sorry my fault I was meaning Firefox desktop. For mobile, even my Firefox autoplays that video. Please type "about:config" > then set "media.autoplay.enabled" to false, that should work.
I appreciate your assistance, as this is annoying. I set "media.autoplay.enabled" to false (was true) and videos still autoplay. I restarted FF and even restarted the phone. Any other setting I can toggle?
Oh that's strange, the same here. I'll see what I can find, have no clue now. cheers.
Gioferret, thanks. "Sorry my fault I was meaning Firefox desktop. For mobile, even my Firefox autoplays that video. Please type "about:config" > then set "media.autoplay.enabled" to false, that should work."
I had to do this a few years ago after an update wiped it out. I forgot what I did and this worked again. CBSsportsline.com had started loading again. I want the video to play when I want it, not as it loads. I sometime have a bunch of tabs open or opening.
