Have FF 31 here (still testing) and want to update through Help/About. I click "Check for updates" and it says that 32.0.1 is available for download. I click the button again, the text on the button changes to "Restart Firefox" ... and then absolutly nothing happens. No restart or whatever. Check Help/About again and it says version FF 31. Also the Status Report says 31.0. Did Disable my virusscanner, no result. Disable add ons, no result.

Okay, so I download and install a manual version, right? Wrong: when I go to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/ or even to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/ .... it states that I have the latest version installed and there is no version available? I get the same message when I check it with FF in Safe Mode. I will not reset FF to default state, it took me a long time to get the feel and look back of when FF worked great in contrast to the horrible Australis feel and look.

I could try Safe Mode and then check for new version but I am afraid that if it succeeds, it will keep the layout of the Safe mode and I loose all my settings?

@ ideato Thanx, I did forgot about that URL :) If I upgrade to FF 32.0.1 that way, will FF keep all the customizations I did make in FF 31?

Definitely YES.

Okay, downloaded it through the given URL and installed and it's version 32.0.1 now with all customizations as they were :) Still weird though that my 31 version would not do a in-program update and was also recognized as latest version on the Mozilla Firefox pages.

I chose to ignore the (MULTIPLE) prompts I received this morning, offering to upgrade to 32.0.1. After years in the software business, I am savvy enough to avoid "zero-day" releases until they've been proved usable.

Apparently that was a wise choice. Firefox is NO LONGER offering to install 32.0.1 for me... and when I log in to mozilla.org/firefox, it informs me that I'm "using the latest version of Firefox."

AND, Help -> About Firefox says I have 31.0, and doesn't mention anything newer.

What is going on with Quality Control here??

Internet Explorer is suddenly looking good.

Well, I left FF all together when the Australis disaster was introduced and have it now only as a kind of back-up browser. But glad to know that it's not only me then with this problem. In the past I would file a bug but no bother anymore now :)
