i download an mp4 file that was about 1.6G. after about 300mb downloaded, the Firefox's download library show it as a finished download. when i double clicked on it, some parts of video shown and the others were not available. there were no .part file to resume it and when i try to download it again, the download starts from beginning. what should i do to resume it? if i can't, what should i do to this no happen again?

If you think that your file HAS downloaded fully, and you've refreshed your file manager that's currently showing the 300 MB file, browse around your temp folders under your username and see if you can locate a recently-dated 1.6 GB file. Have a look under Local and Roaming branches under AppData, particularly. Failing that, get a dedicated downloader/plugin and try again. Sacrifice the first 20 MB by stopping the download and see if you can resume with the 21st MB. Let it rip. Does GetRight still work? My first. Even renaming a .part file to, say, mp4 can succeed - if you can find a likely candidate. HTH PhredE 12th Jan'15

If the file is that badly corrupted that parts within the file are missing (i.e. the first and last part are OK) then you will have to download the file once again and hope that this doesn't happen again. Best would be to use an external download manager to download files that large, especially if you encounter issues like in your case.
