Tab gesture is buggy
Hello I use since some months Firefox Beta, at the moment version 37 for Android. There is this gesture to swipe horizontally on a tab and switch tabs:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-gestures-in-firefox-android and there: For Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and up: You can also swipe left and right on the Awesome Screen to flip through the three tabs.
But this is a pain in the glass! The gesture is not only horizontally but also nearly vertical, so nearly each time I want to scroll down a site, the gesture to switch the tab is wrongly recognized and the tab is gone, I have to switch back.
I am on Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4.4.2 (root).
It would be of great help if it would be possible to just disable this gesture in settings or by any add-on, because this is the most annyoing bug in Firefox beta for Android.

Firefox for Android does not have a tab switch gesture. The documentation points out a way to switch between the the about:home views for bookmarks, history, top sites and tabs from other devices.

Hi francwalter
That's very strange. I don't have an S4 but I do have an S5 as well as many Nexus phones and tablets and the gestures to switch between the tabs works fine.
Some followup questions:
- Are you sure you don't have any add-ons that are interfering with this gesture? (I don't know of any add-ons that disable the gesture either)
- Probably too much trouble, but if you can test with a factory ROM, do you have the same problem? Sometimes non Factory ROMs have weird bugs like this.
- Out of curiosity which ROM are you running? e.g. Cynagenmod?
Cheers!

1. I have some extensions, but even when I disable them all, there is no difference 2. No this out of discussion 3. I have 4.4.2, but a Custom ROM called Omega v40. This is basically the original but with some added apps and features, should really behave identical in such things and does be identical with any other app. So I don't think it is the reason.
The solution would be a draggable scrollbutton like it is found in many apps with long lists. Firefox is a browser, websites often have very long sites, to scroll them all the way down with the normal scroll gesture is a pain. Already if I gesture not 100% vertical, but maybe 10 degrees from vertical away, the tab switches.
Could you help me with this: test, which angle is on your phone necessary to switch tab, I mean which angle distant from vertical. Ideal this should be 45 degrees, but surely not 10, right?

Firefox for Android does not have a tab switch gesture...
Indeed! I just checked with a Samsung Note 10.1 where I installed Firefox Beta and there is no such gesture! So I deleted (only) the data of my firefox app to reset to a clean installation and also the issue was gone! It must then be on my device, a rest of an add-on, or maybe really something with Omega or my own configuration or installed apps, sorry Roland to categorically deny this :( Sorry as well firefox team to insinuate this bug to firefox :(
Thank you for pointing this out.

PS.: by the way, this (see attached screenshot) was the toast, when I swype gesture to left and I am at the last tab: "No more tabs to the right." Maybe this is a hint which add-on or app does the thing?
kbrosnan is right, i interpreted "switch tabs gesture" to mean switch between "Top sites", "bookmarks" etc in the home screen, my bad!
anyhow all's well that ends well!
cheers!
