Won't connect after updating to version 36, unless open up another browser first

This has happened to me both times today when i powered up my laptop. I noticed that I was upgraded to the latest version of Firefox (36) today, but when i open the browser, I get the 'unable to connect' message. I try a few sites and they all give me the same message. Weirdly one of system tray icons i hvae (weather channel) connected fine and was displaying temperature already. Weirder yet, when i bring up IE, i can connect, and after IE is up, I can then bring up Firefox and have no more problems until i shut down...

Something weird is going on...any thoughts on what the update changed?

hi flyerphann, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.
