I keep getting" the connection was reset" when trying to open a new page or trying to download anything what is causing this?
this has happened continuously for a week now and I am unable to download my security system due to this problem can you please instruct me as to what I need to do and how to do it?

There are several posibilities you will have to check.
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select Network. Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. If you are using a proxy, make sure those settings are correct. If there is no proxy, first use No Proxy. If there is a problem, then try System Proxy.
