I thought I needed to delete account to activate new password and lost ALL my emails and folders! Can these be retrieved???

I needed to have a new password for my email account and then had problems accessing emails into Thunderbird, so I thought I needed to delete old account and start again. I didnt expect to lose ALL my emails and folders over many years!. Any way of retrieving them?? Is using Timemachine an option?

If it was an imap account then you have not lost your mail. Just define the account to Thunderbird again.

Deleted the account to change the saved passwords? Pretty drastic move.
