I suddenly get "server not found" errors, only on my home network, usually when using a VPN. Restarting Firefox always makes the problem go away.

More detail: I can use Firefox all day every day at work without having any problems. But when I get home, maybe 5 minutes after I start browsing with Firefox, maybe 5 hours after I start browsing with firefox, suddenly no servers can be found.

Firefox Version 38.0.5

Unfortunately, this problem is occurring on a work computer and I don't have full control over the firewalls and/or security software. To

That said, I don't understand why it would be a firewall and/or security software issue if simply closing/reopening Firefox resolves the issue.

Yes, indeed you are correct, probably it is not a firewall issue, maybe the vpn software is the problem (the connection to servers) and after firefox restart seems fixed, do you have the same behavior in other browsers also ?

Do you have the option to select a different server in your vpn software ?

thank you

What security security software is installed on the computer?

Are you using a proxy at your work location that may not work properly when you are at home?

You can check the connection settings.

See "Firefox connection settings":
