I hate gmail, apple mail through the cloud and on and on and on...I use a VPN along with the TorBrowser...I think it would be very nice if Mozilla created an email service like Tormail or other secure email services, yes the out-lay to set it up might be costly but the customer base would be huge...I'm currently using mail.com and I know it's totally Not secure but my email client has always been Thunderbird

I agree that many mail-server-provider isn't good enough. They are all subject to laws and court orders in their resp. countries.

A Mozilla mail server would also have to comply wherever it is. It could be brought down just like Tormail by FBI.

Does It fit in Mozilla's mission. Especially as Firefox now are the main project. Then its a question of resources and not only financial. Should Mozilla become a moneymaking company? With employees and retirement plans? If so I doubt the customer base would be that big.
