Yesterday (4/29/16) Thunderbird was working fine and then all of a sudden the content of all the emails in the inbox (as well as the content of the emails in the trash) suddenly disappeared. They were listed as usual, with the sender and the subject listed. But when I tried to open the email, all that appeared was a white screen.

Other boxes (like saved emails) were not affected.

New emails arriving since then are fine, the contents is there.

Any ideas on what could have caused this so I can make sure it never happens again?

Thank you.

Thank you very much. Turns out that two messages (one in inbox, and one in trash) had viruses and my antivirus program quarantined all the contents of both boxes, but did not notify me of this. I will try to see what the settings are in the anti-virus program.

Thank you again for the link. I had tried to find something like this but I guess my search did not uncover it.
