Yesterday something weird happened to my Firefox session. The tabs at the top of the window became too light to read, but only when the window is on the second screen of the PC. Originally this was happening in all but one of my Firefox windows, I closed all the bad ones then closed the one remaining working window and restarted Firefox but now that window does it too. This problems is occurring on a Windows (7) box so I tried rebooting, that hasn't fixed the issue. I found that if I go into the customize screen that whole screen has the same problem. However if close all but 1 of the tabs, then open a new tab, close the last old tab and then I move one of the windows with the problem onto the first screen of the PC and open the options screen then move it back to screen 2 the problem goes away in that window. Well unless I open the customise screen in Firefox while the window is on the PC's 2nd screen again, when it all comes back. This is really weird. Help please before I throw this PC out the window :-)

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Thanks, disabling the HW acceleration fixes the problem. Strangely when I came back into the forum to find out if there were any responses I found that I'd logged this

When I first bought this laptop. I was thinking last night I wonder whether this was some sort of weird HW problem.

According to Windows Update I now have the most up to date graphics driver. I loaded it yesterday but it didn't change anything. This laptop does have a NVIDIA Quadro K3100M card, so I presume that provides HW acceleration.
