reply, forward, archive, junk, delete, more buttons disappeared since updating to 38.8.0 Thunderbird
Hi, my "Reply", "Forward","Archive", "Delete", "Junk","More" buttons have disappeared from my in box folder and others, since using the update manager for linux mint 17.1.
They were present prior to the upgrade.
Could anybody please help me on this?
Best regards, WM7793

Right-click the toolbar, select "Customize", drag the lost controls back into place.
You appear to have hidden the Message Pane whose toolbar is now the default home for these controls.
What do you see in the window or tab where you view a message? Do any of these missing controls make an appearance there?
Thank you for your reply, most appreciated!
I have added the "missing" controls as you have kindly instructed. They now reside with the others already there. However, they used to appear entirely on their own menu tab, when you clicked on a email to read it, prior to the update.
What is strange, though, is that they appear as normal, when you reply to an email.
Hope this helps to explain what is happening.
Best regards,
Clive Simpson
Sorry, I should have posted this image too.
This is a screenshot of a reply to an email, showing the missing menu and buttons which have gone missing from the emails in the in box.
I hope this is a little clearer for you.

Clive Simpson
Yes that is as expected. Some of those controls were deliberately moved into the reading view, either the message pane shown alongside or below the Thread Pane (i.e. Inbox etc), or in the separate tab (as you are using) or the separate reading window.
I didn't like them there. I don't use the separate tab/window very often myself, and in the Message Pane ("preview") I felt they just used up too much screen space. So I have placed these controls back on the main window's toolbar, and I use the Custom Header add-on to minimize what's left of this secondary toolbar inside the reading view.
You can see here how I organize my toolbar and read my messages.
