Hi,

I am totally new here, so please bear with me.

I installed a new network card in my desktop pc, and when starting Thunderbird my emails were all gone!

I still have my old profile and I know where it is: C:\Users\Arnold\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\a6mpa2ma.default

I checked profile.ini and the profile listed is correct.

How do I get Thunderbird to find my profile again?

I can't see how replacing the NIC can impact your Thunderbird profile.

What profile is Thunderbird using?

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Folder > Open Folder.

This will open your currently used profile folder in Windows Explorer.

What is the full path to your profile, including the profile name?

Hi,

Thanks for your response!

When clicking Menu, then Help, I am redirected here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird

This is the profile path, and the profile I am using: C:\Users\Arnold\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\a6mpa2ma.default

I managed to solve things manually, moving folders around, but it still looks weird:

e.g. C:\Users\Arnold\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\a6mpa2ma.default\Mail now has 4 folders: Local Folders Local Folders-2 pop.gmail.com pop.gmail-2.com

Before my mail was stored in Local Folders, now it is stored in pop.gmail-2.com

Local Folders still contains my old mailbox, but I can not access it (in Thunderbird), pop.gmail.com has some files in it, but appears empty.

I don't know how to resolve this.

Please explain what you did.

Yes, indeed. I found it. I use now the correct profile, but seem to have two accounts there: see attachment.

I resolved the folder issues by manually moving folders from the old location (Local Folders) to the new location (pop.gmail-2.com). Then started Thunderbird, and there I could move my emails back to the correct folders.

Howcome I have two accounts? I use only one email address.

From your screenshot there is only one (Gmail) account. Why you do have a pop.gmail.com and a pop.gmail-2.com folder, I have no idea. Perhaps it's been something you did, or may be anti-virus software did play a role.

No, this started since my mailbox messed up. I have both folders (Local Folders and gmail) twice now.

Is there any way this can be corrected?

Local Folders is always there. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Local_Folders
