So, it seems 48.0.2 is having the same early problem as 48.0, which was only fixed by an in between update. I'm getting random hangs later in my browsing session forcing me to to close out and reopen Firefox. I've done what they always tell you to do with hangs. The sessionstore.js file doesn't seem to exist when I close out, so I can't delete it. Then there are conflicting suggestions about hardware acceleration, with Firefox help pages saying to make sure it's turned off, but then in my last complaint about 48.0 an editor telling me to leave it on.

Again, help.

Is the problem still there?

Yes. And, now on facebook pages it's taking forever for the graphics to fully load and properly render.

And, now I'm getting that thing, again, where the browser screen turns white or black when I scroll down through it. Restore down tends to get it back, but it messes up again when I try to maximize it. On top of that, I'm getting more crashes at closing than every before.

This version is full of glitches. It's like the quality is reverting.

I just opened up a few tabs on stories at Freep.com, the Detroit Free Press website, and it froze my browser. I tried to wait it out, but nothing happened other than the browser window turning black. I did not have this problem with the immediate predecessor to this version. This has been happening ever since the update.

Where can I download version 48.0.0, again?

EDIT: Nevermind, found an answer to my own question, though, it'd have been more helpful to have a simplier previous verion page. Don't remember it being a directory.

I'm still experiencing these freezes and lags which last for minutes, and then crashes after I close out. This feels like something to do with graphics, as this happens particularly when I open tabs on newspaper articles with embeded videos.

Things I've done in addition to everything above:

1. Refreshed Firefox, which erased my extensions.

2. Experimented with hardware acceleration on and off.

3. Made sure my graphics drivers were up to date, since a lot of this seems to be a problem with how Firefox renders graphics. The graphics drivers were, in fact, up to date.

4. Ran every one of my virus and malware program catchers multiple times.

The only other information I can provide since I've given you guys just about everything is that the only two extensions I use regularly are the Classic Theme Restorer and Status Bar 4 Evar. All plug-ins are upt to date and only on an "ask" basis.

The only other thing I can think of is that my private settings are set to "use custom settings for history" which I was told in the past can cause some of these problems. In the history category, the only things I have checked are "accept cookies" and "clear history when Firefox closes."

Lastly, here are my crashes from just today:

EDIT: To add some additional questions and context, could it perhaps be some anti-virus or anti-malware program or firewall running that is doing this? I have Microsoft Security Essentials running in the background and sometimes RealProtect that automatically is running unless it's turned off. I'm also using a basic Windows Firewall. Let me know, and let me know about some of what the crashes are about.

This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.

Oh, I very rarely ever get crashes from trying to load pages. I get interminable hangs most of the time that require me to use my task manager to manually have to close out of Firefox.

More to the point, though, it's not even dynamic graphics. It can just be stationary adds, embedded pictures. Like, when I go through someone's Twitter gallery, it'll often show a "broken" photo that won't load. And, the longer I scroll down through Twitter, then the browser screen goes black or white, which I can SOMETIMES correct through hitting the "restore down" button in the upper-right before maximizing, again.

Again, this seems to be with how Firefoxes renders graphics and images. If my graphics card isn't compatible, that would help with knowing, but everything seems to be up to date, and I thought that kind of basic information would be included with the troubleshooting thing.

Okay, so I did try this, though, admittedly, I wasn't on as long as I am in regular mode. I didn't get the hanging issues, but I also wasn't doing everything I usually do in normal mode. So, maybe it's a background program taxing my system.

What I did notice in my task manager is that there were only about 5 programs running in safe mode. In regular mode, it's about 25. I can't imagine having to figure out which one(s) is/are affecting Firefox if that even explains most of the problem. I mostly have stuff that Windows needs to run running.

If there is some Windows operation you guys know causes problems with Firefox that would help. And, again, if anyone knows anything in Windows Firewall that might be causing part of the proble, that would be very helpful. I'm kind of at the end of my rope. I think it's weird, because this increased with this version. I've had similar problems in the past, but they get worse with each update. I thought maybe it was CPU usage, but with my information, you guys would have said something about that.

BTW, I did notice something that was happening in safe mode that wasn't happening in regular mode. I kept losing my cursor when trying to type. I'd be typing into a field, and then the cursor would lose itself. Not sure what that was about. I'd have to click back into the field to finish typing and this happened a lot. A few times, the cursor would just randomly go back up into the middle of the previous line while I was typing.

Update ALL of your programs. Not just the plugins. Reboot. If the problem is still there, disable your protection programs.

more options

What does "Update ALL of your programs" even mean? That's not specific, at all. Even just generally, everything that needs updating is update, I'm pretty sure. I'm not even sure how to turn off Microsoft Security Essentials, but do you really think this could be a problem? Has this been something you guys have identified in the past? And, even in the case that it is, obviously, someone's not going to disable their security program every time they have to open up Firefox. That would be crazy.
