AVG installs all sorts of stuff. Web tuneup, AVG, AVG Zen and so forth. It crippled the performance of Firefox so I deleted everything from "Add remove programs". However, when Firefox is started it still runs what I presume to be a drive scan and is unusable for around twenty minutes.

If anyone can assist I will be extraordinarily grateful.

From now on, everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.

Note that these programs can also change browser/computer settings.
