As we prepare for the next beta of MX Linux (based on Debian 9), we are working to improve our users' experience with localization OOTB. We will have a set of 12 common language packs installed by default for LibreOffice, FF and Thunderbird. As the dev working on this pointed out, however:

"Libreoffice works fine. However, firefox and thunderbird do not work without user intervention. The language packs all show up as disabled in the addons manager. The user can enable them, but it would be better if they just worked."

Is there a standard procedure to get this operational?

TIA

Jerry

Thanks, we'll look at those.

We took a look and found it very interesting, but that doesn't seem to cover what we need.

We basically want Firefox to respect the locale setting and enable the appropriate language pack when available. Maybe that isn't possible within FF and we need to use a script instead, but we will continue looking for internal solutions.
