Regretfully, looks like I'll be switching browsers because firefox doesn't function properly with netflix or various other streaming services

Netflix has not been functioning with firefox for several months but Netflix functions fine with Microsoft Edge. This is true with some other video streaming sites as well...firefox does not function properly with them, but Edge works fine. I've been waiting patiently for this to be remedied. I've hoped that an update would resolve the issue, but the most recent update--though apparently a major update--did nothing. I also look on-line for solutions from time to time and I've not had any success there. I'm reasonably tech savvy but am not inclined to jump into experimenting with highly technical possible solutions.

I would think that a problem of this magnitude would prompt some attention. I've been with Firefox for perhaps ten years. I absolutely do not want to change my preferred browser, but it looks like that is my best option at this point. I've been reading browser reviews and its clear that firefox has lost its Edge (not to be punny).

HERE ARE THE SPECIFICS: The Netflix page loads as does the text. But all of the images you click on in order to watch given videos do not. And when you click on the area where the image is supposed to be, nothing happens. The large photo at the top of the page promoting Netflix's latest addition is there but all other images are not. The text for the categories appears but nothing under them

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

When I started Firefox in safe mode (per FredMcD's suggestion) Netflix functioned as it should. However, when I subsequently started Firefox normally, the problem was still there.

Pkshadow suggested that the source of the problem might be one or more of my extensions. He says I should backup my Firefox data and then delete all of the extensions, then add the ones I want to continue using back one by one testing each one to isolate which is/are the source of the problem.

It seems logical that the problem is external to Firefox and I suppose extensions are the probable culprit(s). I don't look forward to deleting and reloading extensions, but I guess I'll give it a go. Any further guidance is welcome.

For now, the problem is not fully resolved but there has been solid progress. I very much appreciate the help.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
