We have a team using the tag function in Thunderbird. The tags are set up identically. But the new colleague can't see or set the tags that we all share?

We have a team using the tag function in Thunderbird. The tags are set up identically. But the new colleague can't see or set the tags that we all share? I need to use the function for delegating tasks and its quite unhelpful that the new colleague cannot view the shared tags function. Can anyone help?

Maybe the new colleague's mail has been setup as a POP3-account instead of IMAP? Only with IMAP tags can be synchronized.

Hello Onno, unfortunately we’ve checked and all users are IMAP. We’ve even tried re-installing the email account but that hasn’t worked. Did you have any other suggestions?

Is the colleague using a different IMAP server, one that perhaps doesn't support keywords?

Sometimes tags altered by one client are not presented by the imap server to the other clients accessing the account. Or that different client doesn't recognize there were changes on the server.

THere was recent discussion in some bug reports like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583677 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693204

Unfortunately it is Google that selects the IMAP server and cannot be chosen so I'm not sure this fix can help at all. Any other thoughts?

If you can't get tags to work, you could perhaps use add-ons like HeaderToolsLite or EditEmailSubject to modifyy the Subjects or message bodies of received messages in a shared IMAP folder. It might even be more effective than using tags.
