I install 47 and get a screen from 57
I'm trying to install version 47.0.1 on a new installation of Windows 7. The install seems to go well and the control panel shows version 47.0.1, but when I launch it, I get the user screen from version 57, which I don't like.
How can I get a clean and correct installation of 47.0.1?

Uninstall then Delete the Program Folders for Mozilla Firefox in C:\Program Files and in C:\Program Files(xB6) then reinstall.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.
Thank you for your help, but nothing that was suggested stopped Mozilla from using the 57 format on version 47.
What is VERY strange is that on a different computer, an old laptop, I have Firefox 12 loaded (Windows 7 OS). I was using it as a guide to my new desktop setup, downloading a few things, when I got a message from Mozilla directing me to install FF 57 for better for better protection. The next time I opened Firefox I got the 57 screen THERE! With no Mozilla downloading.
At this point I give up. I don't like all the "hidden" things in 57 and sometimes can't find what I'm looking for, but my only real alternative is Internet Explorer (or Edge) and I WON'T go there.
I am finding a lot of useful help about profiles on the site, though. Thank you all for your contributions.

Let me clarify that I did NOT install Firefox 57 on the laptop. It has Firefox 12 with a FF 57 screen format.

Are you talking about the window format? It might be that v57 changed your profile settings.
