Error message appears reads as "Login to server imap-mail.outlook.com failed."Options are Retry/Enter New Password/Cancel. Entering new password does not work. Have tried following on line instructions without success. No idea why e mail suddenly started asking for password after c18months. Have tried all my passwords and none work. I have none stored in password manager. Re booting TBird does not work. Cant find out where/how to change a forgotten password, if indeed that is the problem.

If you have not told Thunderbird to remember your email password and enter it for you, of course you are going to be asked to enter it yourself. Someone or something has to provide a password when the email server asks for one.

You will not find anything to with resetting an email password in Thunderbird. It has nothing to do with administering your email password. This is done with your email provider. Most providers have a link to reset a forgotten password on their email help page. Once you have a username and password that works and you can log into your account at your providers webmail page then try it using Thunderbird.
