Hi, I was downloading some add-ons when I notice the "permissions" tab for the extension and I saw that the first thing that I'm giving permission is to "Access your data for all websites", in the Firefox/Mozilla support page it says that: "The extension can read the content of any web page you visit as well as data you enter into those web pages, such as usernames and passwords."

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/permission-request-messages-firefox-extensions

Scary stuff to be honest I never thought that a simple add-on had that much power over my internet... and life, so my question is, if I go and install this add-on, then go to the "Add-ons" tab in the browser options and then go to "Extensions" and then "Disable" does it still has all the permission power over my internet and life or is it "disable" at least until i reactivate it again?

And yes i read other the questions and discussions about the subject, installing only from "trusted" people (if can trust anyone this days), bla bla bla... but nobody seems to have ask if disabling them is enough. (And Mozilla giving this option to "developers"(scammers) is insane).

-Thanks

Keazen oplossing

If you Disable an extension on the Add-ons page, then it does not run, and therefore it cannot monitor or inject scripts into pages you visit.

Ok. It's one of the video download add-ons, but I only use it to download porn so giving my "video information" to them it's not really a concern to me, but I don't want to be tracked all over the internet when I'm doing some regular web surfing. So I'll enable it when I see something interesting but the rest of the time I'll disable it i guess.

Thanks by the way.
