The full text says: http://notappficat.cool is requesting your username and password. The site says: "CLICK CANCEL TO CONTINUE!" The above occurred when opening Firefox without VPN. The previous Firefox session I used VPN Mullvad, and when I finished I turned off the computer. When I turned it on again and opened Firefox without the VPN, the warning appeared. I ran Malwarebytes and no warning appeared. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and the warning appeared again. I uninstalled Mullvad VPN and ran Firefox and the warning reappeared. After each uninstall, I ran CCleaner and from there I cleaned the registry. I do not even know what username and password are being requested from me.

Hi Pkshadow,

thank you very much for the instructions.

The problem was resolved successfully on my two computers.

I must say that these two computers were connected by the Mouse Without Borders application, which may have been the reason why sync Firfox was affected in both. Before proceeding with RogueKiller I deactivated the aforementioned application.

Comments that might be useful:

-The first time I ran RogueKiller on PC1 it did not work (I ran RogueKiller from the hard drive). -Then I copied the installer to a USB, I put it on PC2 and ran it from there, and it worked the first time. -I returned with USB to PC1 and run it from there. This 2nd time RogueKiller did not find issues (the app had already cleaned it the first time), however, immediately after RogueKiller, a Malwarebytes notification appeared informing that Ramsonware had been cleaned! ....

Solved!

I appreciate your help as well as cor-el´s which was very instructive too.

Greetings from Mexico!

You can check the connection settings.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
