After refreshing FF this afternoon, I'm having difficulty with FB, Google and YT etc, My other websites that require login seem to work fine once I enter the master FF password, but, on FB, YT and google, when I select a user name, it fills in an old password so I must re-enter my passwords by hand every time. I have checked in the saved logins in FF and the passwords for those sites are correct? WTH??

I think this was my fault - I must have de-selected the option to "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" - I re-refreshed and made sure that remain checked - all better now.

as more info, my account HERE seems to have had the same or similar problem. I had to create a new account using a secondary email address for this question :-(

What reason did you had to decide to use the refresh feature in Firefox?

Does this also happen if you use "Fill Login" in the right-click context menu?

Do you have any extensions that deal with passwords or filling forms?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
