Why Can't I Controll FF CKECKING for Updates?
I'm using FF as an individual (not corporate user) with admin rights. I need an 8 hour window that prevents FF checking to see if there is an update available. It's constant checking interferes with an Add On (Tab Reloader) I'm using. It would be helpful to have something similar to Windows where the user can specify Active Hours and that FF is not allowed to check for updates. Let me be clear I'm not talking about "installing" the update; I need control over checking for an update.
Tab Reloader allows me to automatically update a page on some time interval. The page contains time sensitive info.

I'm guessing that this interval is controlled by the app.update.interval preference.
Currently interval is set at 43200 (see attachment). Are those seconds? I need an 8 hour window....that's a lot of seconds. Can I specify another measurement interval like hours instead of seconds?
Yes, it's in seconds.
43200 is one-half a day, 86,400 is a day. Either one of those valuea would be fine for my purpose; but FF is constant checking...every few seconds. Is this a bug?
Maybe when Tab Reloader triggers it has FF check for an update??? Is it possible to turn off automatic update checking and I will do it manually?

Yes, the best and working idea has been suggested before: Customize Firefox using policies.json. I know, that you're not a corpo admin, but it works nevertheless.
