firefix won't restart automatically after update
whenever FF requests a restart after update i click "restart" but ff doesn't restart. Has happened on both fedora 30 and 31, possibly on 29 as well. when i manually restart FF all windows and tabs are restored properly. Currently running FF 73.0.1 (64-bit) on a desktop PC with fedora 31 5.4.19-200.fc31.x86_64 with XFCE desktop with 10 workspaces open.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;
Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;
Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.
If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.
Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
Do Not remove any profile folders.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Hi Fred, I tried to locate any config or profile files/folders in the user folder but th eonly folder i found was the "firefox" one. I renamed rather than deleting this before the uninstall and reinstall. All my bookmarks and toolbar entries were missing. I tried to locate these in the renamed firefox folder but they must be encrypted (like logins are) as i couldn't locate them. I restored the old firefox folder and everything came back. As fedora keeps some config items in obscure locations that are not the same areas for all programs it is difficult to locate where any other general config information may be held. I believe my issue is generic not just this user but as i only have one user plus root on the machine I will have to create a dummy user to see if it happens there. Biggest problem now is i have to wait for the next update to see if anything has changed so don't expect a response for a few days at least. regards sederb

in linux (fedora) the firefox folder under the user contains all the profile stuff. That is why i renamed it rather than deleting as i found the reinstall of firefox did not have my toolbar or logins. This is way different from the windows arrangement. since replying i have searched for other places that may have config information without success.
I called for more help.
