Every site I try to load has the warning in the attached screenshot. Im trying to switch from chrome to Firefox permanently but I get this error on literally every website I try except Firefox.com.

It's literally the only thing preventing me from using Firefox permanently on desktop and Android.

I understand it's because it says https but even on chrome I connect to every site with https and I rarely ever see a warning.

Also Google is automatically sending any email from Mozilla into the spam folder which seems... Anti trust to me.

Thanks

Perhaps I posted this in the wrong place?

No, the place is OK, but apparently we don't have any ideas about your issue.

Is anything under Technical details? Can you paste it here?

Here is a screenshot of me trying to visit YouTube with the details expansed.

Also I'm on a note 10+ running Android 10 with the June update but this was happening before the update. I have no extensions installed, I'm not using a VPN, it happens on wifi and over cell service.

If there is any info you need ill give it to you because I don't understand what's wrong.

It's Firefox 68 right?

Try to enter about:config in the URL bar and search for security.enterprise_roots.enabled preference. Is it there?

more options

It is 68.8.1 and yes that setting is there and enabled

more options

Set it to false and close the browser. Let's see what happens.

Unfortunately it didn't help. Same error is coming up. I changed the setting in firefox, went to app settings and force stopped it then cleared the cache and tried to load 2 different sites but... No luck.

This is a very strange issue isn't it?

Can you install this newer version? => https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.fenix

It doesn't support preinstalled certificates, so I belive it would work for you.

The preview version does work so thank you for that suggestion.

I'm very curious what's going on with the normal release. There is nothing odd about my phone. It's not rooted or anything.

At least with the preview version I can sync with desktop and get myself a little further away from Google's grasp.

So does this mean I'm always going to have to use the preview version?

Is there any way to contact someone who officially works on Firefox so we can figure this out?

Yes, as everybody else. The previous app will be deprecated in the next 3 months.

My son has a note 10 as well and my wife has a note 9 and they don't need to use the beta. The regular (68) version works fine for them.

I guess I just don't understand what the issue is. Even a factory reset without restoring any settings didn't help. Oddly enough I was able to use the non preview version a couple months ago with no issue.

Why are they deprecating the stable build of Firefox that most people use? I don't think the average user is running the preview. Obviously build 68 will be replaced with a newer one but I wouldn't call that depreciation. Firefox will still be available.

Hi

We have been doing a lot of work to improve the Firefox experiance on Android. We are still adding a bit of polish, but in time Firefox Preview is due to become our main browser on the Andriod platform, brining much needed speed and usability enhancements.

I'm actually having an issue with the preview now too. It will load the site but I can't see anything but a blank page then I hit the back button and for a split second I see the site before it goes back to the Firefox home screen. Then I'll load the same site in chrome and there's no issue.

What's weird is the preview was working great for a few days then Friday it stopped. I didn't change any settings or install any add-ons. I've tried clearing the cache, the data, uninstalling and reinstalling but same result.

All I wanna do is switch but I keep getting yanked back to chrome. I can't switch on desktop until I get the mobile issue sorted out. I really dislike the things Google has been doing and now there is that security flaw with chromium in general so it's actually really important to switch.

  • Edit* after posting this I finally got it working again but now any site with even a small overlay is having that overlay take up the entire page. I took a screenshot. The text at the top is behind the overlay, if I scroll where the overlay is that text scrolls. I never clicked search on this particular site, that's just how it loaded.

It is very interesting that I have the same setup as the OP. Note 10+, Android 10 with Aug 2020 patch and I am on VPN all the time. Firefox will not open any website without having the go through the "Security Risks" and even then it will not display the website properly.

Suggestion for the OP, use Samsung's browser until this is fixed. It will do everything you need except blocking autoplay.

Edit: Samsung Browser has a autoplay blocking feature under Settings/Useful Features. It works perfectly.
