Each time I turn on Thunderbird recently, I get a pop-up box :- Compacting folders, saying, Deleted messages can be purged from disk each time they are deleted from the Inbox. I prefer to purge Deleted messages after a period of time, and not each time I delete an item from the Inbox. How can I stop getting this pop-up repeatedly

Thanks for any help on this.

Keazen oplossing

The compact process does not affect messages that are in Trash folder - which one might assume are the messages you want to retain for a period of time. Therefore, it should be OK for you to marked the checkbox to allow automatic compact to occur, and you will no longer be bothered by it.

Version 91 comes out in several weeks, in which the language of the compact dialog has been greatly improved. When you install version 91, if compact causes problems, please create a new support topic.
