How can I select more than one language for spellchecking?

After downloading multiple dictionaries for Thunderbird's spellchecker I can only select one of them to be used at any given time. This, however, makes using multiple languages in one and the same email a bit annoying and/or cumberome as text of whichever language is not actively spellchecked at the moment will be interpreted as a selection of typos and using the spellchecking window becomes quite futile too for the very same reason. Is there any way to spellcheck for multiple languages at the same time?

Spellcheck uses a selected language on the entire email. You need to tell spellcheck what language you are intending to use. Assuming several spellchecks were symultaneously operating how would any of the languages know what language you were actually typing. Even if two English versions could symultaneously work eg: English British and English US and I typed the word colour, the US version would say it was an error because it does not know I'm writing as British, it only knows that word is spelt wrong. So I would end up with erroneous spellcheck errors.
