Firefox account password
Whilst updating/checking my list of user names and passwords I find that my record shows a 12 digit password for my Firefox account. However, I see when accessing my account that there is a 18 digit password created in 2018. I can find no record of having set this up. I have not had to use it since the browser opens automatically. So I need to reset my password in case I need to use it. But I note this might remove all my bookmarks and password records unless I have a recovery code. But to obtain this code I need to enter my password, which I do not have! Must I risk having to re-establish all my bookmarks and passwords or is there an alternative solution Many thanks

Firefox account is not required for using the Firefox browser. As you say, the browser just opens. A Firefox account lets you post to the support forum, and can be used to save/sync your bookmarks and saved passwords between multiple devices. If you have not used the Sync function you can probably just ignore that old password.
