Trash file not emptying

I am fairly sure this problem started post 102.0 update.

It started by my Deleted folder (under Local Folders) suddenly repopulating with about the previous 5 days of deleted emails. My setttings are set to 'empty on exit' and, in any case, I do manually Empty Deleted during the day. I also Compact Folders once per week.

Since then, that problem has recurred (with less emails showing up) I think just once.

However, I have noticed that after 'Empty Deleted' that the size of the Trash file (in my Mail - Local Folders) does not decrease to zero. Not even Compact Folders reduces it to zero. Looking at the contents with a text editor, the Trash file still contains my deleted emails.

If I manually delete both Trash and Trash.msf then on restrating TB the Trash file is set to zero length.

Has anyone any ideas of what to do to solve this? I have search Google with no success.

Keazen oplossing

Since 102.0.2, Thunderbird has been correctly emptying Trash files, both when explicitly requested and on Exit. There has been no mention of this being fixed in the 'What's New', but fingers crossed that it continues to work.

An update.

I updated TB to 102.0.2 and the problems seem to have have been solved - the Trash folder is cleared to zero length.

There is no mention of this problem being fixed in the 'What's New' page.

I spoke too soon! The problem has come back again. If no one has any suggestions, I will raise it as a bug on bugzilla.
