UPDATE: In Privacy and Security, I just turned on Antivirus which allows the antivirus client to quarantine the individual message and not my entire inbox. Let's see if that helps!

When I download my e-mail in Thunderbird on my Surface, Windows Defender says I might have a virus. Meanwhile, my inbox shows several messages, but none of them have content. Just the Subject line.

I've run Windows Defender scans and it says there are no current threats. I've even run the offline scan, which is supposed to be extensive, and no virus.

If I download my e-mail in Thunderbird to my old Dell laptop (instead of my Surface), the messages are all normal with subject line and content, so it definitely seems as if I have a virus on my Surface. However, it doesn't happy every day. And, if I use my other laptop to resend the same messages to me on my Surface, they appear normal.

Is this behavior normal for Thunderbird if there is a virus and if so, how can I get rid of it? I've had Thunderbird for decades. I've had the same e-mail address for almost 30 years! Thanks!

You state that Windows Defender says there 'might' be a virus. You also mention messages with subjects but no content. Are those suspicious messages? I don't see the problem. Your old PC isn't suspicious, but maybe that PC is running different OS and different anti-virus.
