Bookmarks keep appearing in autocomplete

I have tried going to "Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> When using the location bar, suggest: " If this option is set to "History and bookmarks" bookmarks will show up as the first suggestion with a star next to them. If this option is set to "History" bookmarks STILL show up, only without a star. I have confirmed that the site in question is not in my history. I have even tried visiting one of the bookmarked sites to put it in my history, then clicking "Forget about this site" in the history so I'm absolutely sure it's NOT in my history anywhere. Even after that it still always shows up as the very first result, even though Firefox is configured to only use the history in autocomplete (which is the history it's not in). Selecting the autocomplete suggestion and pressing delete does get rid of it until I try typing it again, after which it's back where it was. Any suggestions?

This problem persists for FireFox 3.6.6. Apparently some of my old bookmarks have permanently taken residence in the autocomplete list and I can't get rid of them. Any help (even a pointer to where FireFox keeps this information) would be greatly appreciated.
