Suddenly (literally) my master password has stopped being recognized by my computer. When I type in the "old" password to change it to something new, it doesn't recognize the old one either. Any advice???

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Today. No good reason/cause is apparent.

Thanks. Reset worked. But still curious - anyone seen this before? I've literally never changed (or tried to change) the MP. But it suddenly stopped working...

You should make a backup of key3.db and signons.sqlite to prevent losing passwords. --- To backup or restore passwords in Firefox 3.5/6 you need two files: key3.db and signons.sqlite (previous versions of Firefox used a file signons#.txt).

Key3.db stores the encryption key for the signons.sqlite or signons#.txt file and without that matching key3.db file you can't access the encrypted password. You can look at the Password Exporter extension to backup and restore the names and passwords.

Anonymous, YES... The same thing happened to me. I tried the fixes that were offered but none worked. Eventually I had to uninstall FF, search Window for any references and delete them and then reinstall.

I didn't try again because I'm wondering if deleting History, Cookies, Temp Files etc... caused the problem???

If that's the case I wouldn't like that at all.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank You, DoraLorraine
