I read websites and use the page up, page down, and home to scroll up and down the pages. Today, those buttons quit responding on all websites. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox twice, even tried the 4.0 beta version, same problem. I can scroll websites with these buttons in my IE program. I have windows 7 pro, on a dell lattitude computer.

Maybe you inadvertently turned on Caret Browsing - hit F7.

Edmeister - thank you so much.

This has been bugging me for a long time. I disabled caret browsing (which I never used or even knew about) by hitting F7 and things are back to 'normal'.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false on the about:config page if you do not want to use this feature.
