Since upgrading to 4.1 my adblock plus 1.3.6 icon for toolbar has turned up missing,no where to be found.Have tried everything from reinstalling to doing searches on the net to find an answer. Thought id give it a shot here to maybe get a heads up on this issue and see if anyone else has had this same problem. If this is a known issue by the designer of adblock plus hope they update it soon. Having to use icon on status bar which im not a big status bar user, and really dont like using it.

OK, here's what you do.

In the upper left corner of your Firefox screen, go to View > Toolbars and make sure that you have the Add-on bar [√] checked. Then go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > AdBlock Plus > Options > Options and make sure that you have "Show in toolbar" [√] checked.

The ABP icon will now show up in your Add-on bar.

OR if you are like me and don't want that bar, go to View > Toolbars and UNcheck Add-on bar [ ]. Then find an empty spot at the top of your screen and right-click customize. Your Add-on bar will appear *even though you have it turned off*. NOW drag and drop the ABP icon to where ever you want it. NOTE: you MUST have Show in Toolbar checked [√] in your Adblock Plus options... even if you have that toolbar not showing.

If the above doesn't work right click on a toolbar space, select customize, look in the icon box for an Adblock Plus icon and drag it to a preferred place. I don't see any point in retaining the add-ons bar.

There is an extension that will restore the status bar if you wish - I don't but a lot of people do.

The Adblock icon will show up on the Add On bar at the bottom and cannot be moved to the top. Without the addon bar the icon does not show up in customize. This occured with FF4.0.1. It was fine in 4.0 (and the 3.6 series).

Actually, you can move it back to the top. The first reply here isn't very clear. The main issue is that you'd like to move all your add-on icons back to the top where they always were, but they're not showing in the Customize menu. Let's fix it.

First go to View > Toolbars > and click Add-On Bar. The bar will now show at the bottom of the Firefox window, displaying all your add-ons.

Next, go up to the top, right-click on a toolbar space, and select Customize.

Now, with the Customize window open, click and drag the AdBlock Plus icon (or whichever icons you'd like) from the Add-On Bar into the Customize window. Once it's in there it will disappear from the Add-On Bar and you can then select and move your add-on icons around with ease, back to where they always were.

Finally, either uncheck Add-On Bar from the View > Toolbars menu, or simply click the little x at the bottom left corner of your screen to close the Add-On Bar.

Oh, finally figured it out! I could not get that icon to move at all, clicking on it just kept bringing up its menu, even with the customize window open. The secret is that when you have the customize window open, hover your mouse very close to the ABP icon but not quite directly on top of it. You need the pointer to be the open-moving-hand, not the pointing-to-something-hand. THEN you can click & move it.

It took some fiddling to get it where I wanted it, but eventually I did. Never did go directly into customize window, I somehow moved it to the lower right, then to a separate bar on top (did I move the whole bar?) and then got it where I wanted. But the main point is: don't click directly on it, click just barely next to it.
