I have been a loyal Firefox user for years. I will be migrating from a PC to a Mac soon and would like to keep the same settings (profile information) than I have now for Firefox 4.0.1. Can that be done, or are profiles unique for each OS? Thanks for your help.

Copying a full profile folder from one OS (even between different Windows versions) is not recommended. There is no problem if you only copy some specific files like the SQLite files that store bookmarks and history (places.sqlite) and passwords (signons.sqlite and key3.db) or sessionstore.js with the current session data.

Very helpful; thanks. I understood that copying and transferring extensions and themes was not wise, but my question had to do with operating system bridging. By implication, I assume your answer means that can be done for the limited subset of files you mentioned (which I hope includes the sites suggested in the awesome box based on past usage). Thanks again for your help.
