I've tried to switch my preferences to have a blank page open when I start up Firefox and it keeps reverting back to "show my windows and tabs from last time". However, it doesn't open the same windows/tabs I had open the last time I closed it. Instead it shows the windows/tabs that opened the last time I opened Firefox.

So upon start up the exact same windows/tab open everytime -- even if I close them during that session. I don't want those tabs open anymore. How do I get it to open the windows/tabs that were showing the last time I quit Firefox?

If the wrong tabs are reopening then it is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
