To check if my WiFi is working from a terminal I want to run Firefox. I t demands that a display be specified.

I tried 'firefox 1280x1024', but that is not recognized as a "Display"

How do I specify one? Running firefox v3.6.24 with Linux Ubuntu 10.10 on 32 Bit, and Windows 7. with firefox 8-0 on the later.
