Why do I get this message when I try to play a song "The license cannot be downloaded because your Web browser is not supported.
I downloaded songs from a cd and when I try to play them with windows media player I get this message The license cannot be downloaded because your Web browser is not supported.
To download a license, you must install Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or later.
To install the latest version of Internet Explorer, see the Windows Update page."

On which site? It sounds like they use a technology that is IE only and require you to use Internet Explorer to use the site
If I uninstall Firefox Internet Explorer downloads the license.
When you have Firefox installed is it set as your default browser?
Yes Firefix is my default browser.
I don't have any media to use to check, but it could be the WMP is using the default browser, Firefox in your case, and it needs to use IE. Could probably confirm that behavior by setting IE as your default browser and trying again
Did you copy the songs directly from a CD or did you download the files from a website?
You can use a different player than the Windows Media Player to play the songs if you copied them from a CD to avoid that.
Yes I copied the songs directly from a CD. When I went to "Windows media center" It said I needed to download a license and gave me a link to down load, after I did this the songs will play on both the windows media center and windows media player. I would like to skip this process and download the license from Firefox the way you can from Internet Explorer.
I believe mine started because I told 'Virtual Dj' to scan my music HDD for BPM's and auto tag each of the 45'000 tracks, im assuming the program is going online to find licenses for certain drm tracks. I have attached an image of the settings for virtual dj tagging, and yes firefox is also my default browser. I found if I set IE to default it will launch it for the drm license and download successfully (something i really do not want to do
